London, England: The City Nooks

We have been spending most of our weekends staying put in London while we enjoy our down time away from the travel season. It's given us the perfect excuse to check off some of our must-sees or to wander around new parts. London experienced some unseasonably warm weather over the past weekend so we wanted to be sure to get ourselves out and about to enjoy it. Rico works just outside of the City of London—not to be mistaken with London which I know sounds totally confusing...it is—and has been wanting to show me around some.

London, England: Anslem Kiefer At White Cube

This past Saturday we were lucky enough to catch the Anselm Kiefer show, Walhalla, at White Cube. We hopped on the tube to Bermondsey to meet friends for a day of wandering around. Bermondsey is a great area in London when you're looking for something different and new. White Cube is just one of those spots that pulls people into explore. The gallery had been on my list of places to get to for quite some time now and I'm ashamed it took us so long to finally make our way there. It felt amazing to be there for such a powerful exhibit and has quickly shot up to be one of my top art museums to visit.

London, England: The Orchids Festival At Kew Gardens in Richmond

When it's been really cold and gloomy all you want to do is find somewhere warm and colorful to refresh. Mid-February is that time of year when winter is starting to drag and you need something to keep you going. Lucky for us—and you—the Orchids Festival is currently taking over the Princess of Wales Conservatory at Kew Gardens. It was a no brainer to add it to our list to check out this past weekend knowing we had some free time on Sunday. After an easy ride over on the overground and a short stroll to the elaborate greenhouse, we were finally in what felt like a tropical paradise.

London, England: Afternoon Tea At Sketch

Afternoon tea should have been high up on our list of things to do when we moved to London but it seemed to have slipped far off and out of our radar. One of those—we'll get to it eventually—things. After making my way to Sketch last year with a fellow blogger to enjoy The Glade part of the restaurant, I knew I needed to eventually go back with Rico to get the full experience of afternoon tea in The Gallery.  The (mostly) all pink restaurant may look familiar to you since it's a pretty hot spot to Instagram. I wouldn't be surprised if it was in some top lists—I've seen it pop up quite a bit AND after all, it truly is beautifully weird.
