France & Monaco, September 2018: The French Riviera (Nice)

The Nice post from our first visit covers a lot, so we will only note things in this post that we didn’t do last time. Our home this time around was this stylish Airbnb on Rue du Marché.

We came to Nice primarily for beach time, so we set up camp at beach club Opéra Plage for most of our only full day. Between dips in the sea and naps in the sun, we ate lunch (caprese salad) and made friends with a very sociable Corgi (we named him Benoît). Sadly, our last swim of the day was also our last swim of the summer.

England, April 2018: The Cotswolds

Rico’s parents visited England’s Cotswolds, only a couple of hours’ drive from London, when they visited in the fall, and their positive reviews inspired us to escape the city this spring. We stayed in a cute hut on a farm and hung out with the resident dogs, cats, chickens and horses.

Morocco, April 2018: Fez Video Moments

The final part of our Morocco trip brought us to Fez. After a long day of driving (roughly 8 hours) from the Sahara Desert, we finally made it and were greeted by the friendly Dar Seffarine. The last few days exploring Morocco were full of narrow lanes, getting lost, wandering the souks, and enjoying the beauty of Fez's medina. It was a wonderful ending to our time and made it all the more difficult to say goodbye to Morocco. Until next time!

Morocco, April 2018: Marrakech To The Sahara Video Moments

For the second part of our trip to Morocco, we knew we wanted to head to the Sahara Desert for a night under the stars. Rather than going on a tour, we decided to rent a car to take it slowly on our own. With a few stops and overnight stays at Ait Benhaddou and Dades Gorge, we finally made it to the endless dunes. A night watching the sunset, listening to music by the fire, and looking up at the stars was the perfect way to spend some time in Morocco before heading on to Fez!

For our first long trip of the year, we decided it was time to get off the continent. Over the past years, Europe has become our comfort zone. It felt important to step out of that and begin venturing beyond. Having had Morocco on the list for awhile, it felt like the perfect place to start. Flying from London into Marrakech, we kicked off our trip. Marrakech was a beautiful and chaotic city that we fell in love with deeply. We knew we made the right choice once we settled in and began to understand the rhythm. From its busy streets to the serene courtyards, Marrakech offered plenty to see and do.

The Czech Republic, April 2017: Prague Video Moments

Recapping our Prague trip has me wanting to return already. I feel like I haven't stopped gushing about the city since we got back to London. It was just one of those magical weekends that reminds us why we have chosen a life of travel and we are feeling so refreshed—alive. The three-day weekend in late April had us boarding a plane from London to Prague more excited than ever to finally check out the well known historic city.

The Czech Republic, April 2017: Prague (Part 02)

While Prague’s Malá Strana neighborhood and castle are key spots in the city, the epicenter of activity lies on the other side of the Vltava. And the best way to cross from one side to the other is over the 15th century Charles Bridge, a pedestrianized stone bridge commissioned by King Charles IV. It’s difficult to enjoy the bridge’s beauty during the day as it’s packed with people—mostly distracted tourists walking at a snail’s pace in unpredictable zig-zags.

It took us over two years, but after a warm-up trip to Budapest, we finally made it to the jewel of central Europe’s tourism crown: Prague. The City of a Hundred Spires is a charming mix of amazing architecture, adorable squares, and incredible views and has an impressive history stretching back over 1,000 years. Unlike some other cities in the area, Prague was spared the worst of the Second World War which explains why its medieval look and feel are intact.

Portugal, March 2017: Lisbon (Girls Weekend)

At the end of February, I made plans with my good friend Steph to have a weekend away in Lisbon, Portugal. Steph is a fellow American expat (even from the same state!) that I met shortly after our move to London. Unfortunately, she'll be moving back home in April so it was really wonderful to get a weekend together—just the two of us—traveling and wandering around Lisbon. Having been here before I enjoyed being able to show Steph around the city for her first visit and even do some new things!

France, November 2016: Paris Video Moments

On Monday, we recapped our November Paris trip for you and now it's time to dive right into the video moments. During our first trip to Paris—over a year ago—we spent a lot of time hitting the must see spots. The one thing we missed was actually climbing up the Eiffel Tower. This time around we were sure to do just that but the majority of our time was spent wandering around south of the river. Basing ourselves in Saint German was the perfect place to see a different side of Paris and find our way to the Latin Quarter as well. It may have rained all weekend but Paris really sunk into our bones this time around. We are certain that we will be taking advantage of the train ride from London much more often. How could we not!?
