Switzerland, May 2017: The Lauterbrunnen Valley Video Moments

As we have said during our recaps of our trip to the Swiss Alps, we spent the first few days of our trip in Lucerne. After that, it was time to head up and into the mountains! We based ourselves in Murren, a quaint town sitting high above the valley. From there we were able to hike in all directions taking in the spring meadows of wildflowers and the snowcapped mountains overlooking us.

All this week we have been recapping our recent trip to The Swiss Alps. It is one of those places that hurts a little to remember because you just so badly want to be there still. We truly fell in love with it all from city wandering in Lucerne to hiking up in the mountains by Murren. Switzerland is a beautiful place to escape to nature—it does some seriously good for the soul, plus...

Switzerland, May 2017: The Lauterbrunnen Valley & Spiez

The train from Lucerne to Interlaken runs on a scenic path known as the GoldenPass route. We booked special tickets to reserve seats in one of the train’s panoramic cars which were nice but certainly not necessary to appreciate the views along the way. From Interlaken, we took a train to Lauterbrunnen, cable car to Grütschalp, and finally another [very scenic] train to Mürren.

Switzerland, May 2017: Lucerne

A lake, a river, snowcapped mountains, beautiful bridges, an attractive old town, and city walls on a hill from which to appreciate it all. There aren’t many cities in Europe that offer all of the above in one place, but Lucerne (or Luzern in German) is maybe the best example. Conveniently located in the center of Switzerland and on the edge of the Alps, Lucerne is a well-known tourist spot and for good reason.

France, December 2016: Christmas Markets in Alsace (& Basel, Switzerland) Video Moments

This week we've invited you in to explore the Alsace Christmas markets with us to help get into the holiday spirit. After all, we are just about one week away from Christmas! So, for the first weekend of December, we found ourselves taking a three day weekend to head down to the Alsace region of France. It was the perfect place to explore a handful of the beautiful European Christmas markets and spend some quality time with family who were visiting from the States. The cobblestone streets were beyond crowded with people who had the same idea as us but as I looked around, I was completely in awe of the decorations, lights, and festive spirit carried so cheerfully through the towns. Add in the half-timbered home as the backdrop and it was nothing short of magical. The charm of these towns left us wanting to return one year in the spring to see them covered in flowers. I can only imagine it would be a sight to see! For now, we will keep Alsace in our minds as a wonderful spot to celebrate the holidays.
