France & Monaco, September 2018: The French Riviera (Nice)

The Nice post from our first visit covers a lot, so we will only note things in this post that we didn’t do last time. Our home this time around was this stylish Airbnb on Rue du Marché.

We came to Nice primarily for beach time, so we set up camp at beach club Opéra Plage for most of our only full day. Between dips in the sea and naps in the sun, we ate lunch (caprese salad) and made friends with a very sociable Corgi (we named him Benoît). Sadly, our last swim of the day was also our last swim of the summer.

France, May 2017: Paris & Versailles Video Moments

Our latest trip took us to Paris & Versailles. We had never seen Paris so lush and in bloom so being there in the Spring walking around felt extra magical this time around. It was a beautiful weekend (minus some random downpours) and we fell even further in love with the city. It's funny to go from such a neutral feeling from our first ever visit to an obsession now after our numerous trips.

France, May 2017: A Spring Day Trip From Paris to Versailles

Versailles has seen its fair share of history. Originally built in 1623 as a hunting lodge for Louis XIII, in its 400-year history it’s seen opulent expansion, mobs of angry crowds during the French Revolution, and the signing of the treaty that bears its name and brought an end to World War I. Today the palace is a popular tourist attraction and the city of Versailles is an affluent suburb of Paris.

France, May 2017: A Spring Weekend In Paris

Our November visit to Paris reminded us to not take the city’s close proximity for granted and we promised then to return in the spring. Keeping the promise we made to ourselves, we hopped on the Eurostar for a quick 2-day visit. We had two goals: explore more of the neighborhoods we love most and visit Versailles for the first time. We’ll cover our time in Paris here and then will present Versailles in another post.

France, December 2016: Christmas Markets in Alsace (& Basel, Switzerland) Video Moments

This week we've invited you in to explore the Alsace Christmas markets with us to help get into the holiday spirit. After all, we are just about one week away from Christmas! So, for the first weekend of December, we found ourselves taking a three day weekend to head down to the Alsace region of France. It was the perfect place to explore a handful of the beautiful European Christmas markets and spend some quality time with family who were visiting from the States. The cobblestone streets were beyond crowded with people who had the same idea as us but as I looked around, I was completely in awe of the decorations, lights, and festive spirit carried so cheerfully through the towns. Add in the half-timbered home as the backdrop and it was nothing short of magical. The charm of these towns left us wanting to return one year in the spring to see them covered in flowers. I can only imagine it would be a sight to see! For now, we will keep Alsace in our minds as a wonderful spot to celebrate the holidays.

France, November 2016: Paris Video Moments

On Monday, we recapped our November Paris trip for you and now it's time to dive right into the video moments. During our first trip to Paris—over a year ago—we spent a lot of time hitting the must see spots. The one thing we missed was actually climbing up the Eiffel Tower. This time around we were sure to do just that but the majority of our time was spent wandering around south of the river. Basing ourselves in Saint German was the perfect place to see a different side of Paris and find our way to the Latin Quarter as well. It may have rained all weekend but Paris really sunk into our bones this time around. We are certain that we will be taking advantage of the train ride from London much more often. How could we not!?

France, September 2015: The South of France Video Moments

We've been recapping our week in the South of France back in September these last two weeks here on the journal. If you've missed those you can catch up here, here, and—wait for it...here! The trip was the perfect way to end the summer and spend some time with family exploring a new place. By basing ourselves in Nice, we were able to easily take day trips out to the many hill and coastal towns that make the area so unique. The stone work of the hill towns always amazes me when you think about the work that went into creating these beautiful old villages. On the somewhat opposite note, the colorful painted homes of the coastal towns against the deep blue sea was absolutely inspiring and eye-catching as an artist. Wandering around both are experiences I will never forget! And of course, the best way to end each day was coming back to Nice for a swim (we even went parasailing for the first time!). With Spring starting to bring the warmer weather, I get so excited to get back to traveling and having days like that!

France, April 2015: Easter Weekend In Paris Video Moments

While we were in Paris last month, Rico and I started to play around with the idea of creating videos. We really wanted to be able to show you more about our travels, and since we can't take you with us, we thought capturing our movement would be the next best thing.
