Portugal, September 2017: The Algarve Video Moments

As the weather warms up here for spring in London, we were inspired to finally share more about our trip to Portugal's Algarve last September. It was a vacation filled with beach visits, strolls down cobblestone lanes, and good food. While we mentioned it didn't make the top of our list of places we have been, the Algarve is the spot to go to for some sun and relaxation. We enjoyed ending our 2017 travel season doing just that! If we ever make it back, Lagos or Salema will be calling our names.

Ireland, August 2017: The Dingle Peninsula Video Moments

Our three day weekend in Ireland was full of beautiful landscapes. The rocky coast, beaches, and rolling green hills took our breath away. Exploring the Dingle Peninsula was the perfect way to see the country for the first time and inspired us to want to return for more. We enjoy these mini weekends away seeing somewhere new, driving around, immersing ourselves in the natural surroundings, and relaxing. It helps refresh us and brings balance to our lives. A highlight of our weekend in Ireland was showing up at Eask Tower at the end of a day of wandering around. The skies had finally cleared for a bit so we hiked up and looked down on the land around us in awe. That moment sums up how we felt about Ireland for us.

Bosnia & Croatia, July 2017: Hvar, Croatia Video Moments

I have to admit that it has been tough to recap our trip to Bosnia and Croatia while in the middle of winter. These photos, videos, and stories have me aching to return—to go swimming again and feel the warm sun on our skin. I'm just going to have to close my eyes and pretend until July when we make our way back to Croatia—we just can't get enough! This past trip was the perfect mix. Starting in Bosnia where we learned further about their deep history, visited beautiful mosques and quaint villages then ending in Croatia by sea to swim and wander was perfect. It is a trip that we will never forget!

Bosnia & Croatia, July 2017: Split & Trogir, Croatia Video Moments

Hands down, Croatia is one of our favorite places to travel to. It has a beautiful mix of culture and adventure! For our third visit, we decided to spend our time in Split and Hvar (which we will get to soon!). After our time in Bosnia, we took a bus from Mostar to Split to kick off the second half of our trip. While in Split, we enjoyed wandering around the old city, eating delicious food, taking some time to relax at the beach, and going off on a day trip to Trogir. Our time there got us back to remembering why we keep coming back. The people are friendly, the food is delicious, the history and the old architecture surrounds you, and you can't beat being by the sea. It was a wonderful first few days back in Croatia. Next up, we jump on the ferry to finish our two week adventure on the island of Hvar!

Bosnia is one of the most unique places we have visited so far in our travels. We pushed ourselves to go here to learn more about the history and see a culture that is so different from our own. Stepping foot in the different mosques throughout our stay and listening to our tour guide in Sarajevo gave us a better understanding of life. It is easy to sink into the everyday norms and assume that everyone else's lives are similar—to forget the struggles as they seem so far away, almost unreal. Hearing the stories of the Bosnian people—what they have been through—is eye-opening, especially since it was so current. Places like Bosnia are important to travel to. By visiting, you can see a country that was—not to long ago—torn apart by war, come back together. While it is still not perfect (as we have written about in our other posts from our time there), it is an inspiring example of regaining strength.

Norway, June 2017: Bergen & Fjord Country Video Moments

Recapping our Norway trip has made me miss the peacefulness of the country. While we only had four days to soak it in (and we got soaked...), it made a lasting impact on us. Our souls always feel refreshed when we are removed from the hustle and bustle of city life and pushed into nature. Bergen offered us some charming streets to wander and get our first taste of Norwegian culture and adventuring into fjord country gave us that bit of nature I'm going on about here. It was the highlight of the trip—being able to take a boat right around such beautiful scenery and then again get to see even more up close with a kayaking trip. The weather wasn't the best we could have asked for (even the locals were complaining) but we made the most of our time and hope to return back sometime soon (with some sun!).

Italy, June 2017: Murano & Burano Video Moments

Last up on our Venice trip is our Murano and Burano Video Moments. These two islands were an absolute highlight of our trip. Their colorful homes, small canals, unique bridges, and artistry truly pulls you in. Murano and Burano are an easy trip from Venice making it no brainer to visit (a mistake we made on our first trip to Italy in 2013). We loved getting lost wandering around and discovering new nooks and crannies. I'm a bit at a loss of words to how to describe how beautiful these little islands were so you will just have to take my word for it and watch the video yourself!

Back in June we took a four-day weekend to head back to Venice, Italy. On our first trip to Venice in 2013, we were unsure of the city and a bit run down from our whirlwind of a trip. Since then, we always knew we needed to return to give it a second chance and this summer we finally went for it. I think it's safe to say we full in love quickly and didn't want to leave this time around. From wandering along the side canals to checking out the Peggy Guggenheim Collectio and enjoying the 57th Biennale di Venezi, we enjoyed ourselves immensely. We can't stop scheming up ways to return to the wonderfully unique city. I can only hope a visit happens again soon!

Switzerland, May 2017: The Lauterbrunnen Valley Video Moments

As we have said during our recaps of our trip to the Swiss Alps, we spent the first few days of our trip in Lucerne. After that, it was time to head up and into the mountains! We based ourselves in Murren, a quaint town sitting high above the valley. From there we were able to hike in all directions taking in the spring meadows of wildflowers and the snowcapped mountains overlooking us.

Switzerland, May 2017: Lucerne Video Moments

All this week we have been recapping our recent trip to The Swiss Alps. It is one of those places that hurts a little to remember because you just so badly want to be there still. We truly fell in love with it all from city wandering in Lucerne to hiking up in the mountains by Murren. Switzerland is a beautiful place to escape to nature—it does some seriously good for the soul, plus...

France, May 2017: Paris & Versailles Video Moments

Our latest trip took us to Paris & Versailles. We had never seen Paris so lush and in bloom so being there in the Spring walking around felt extra magical this time around. It was a beautiful weekend (minus some random downpours) and we fell even further in love with the city. It's funny to go from such a neutral feeling from our first ever visit to an obsession now after our numerous trips.

The Czech Republic, April 2017: Prague Video Moments

Recapping our Prague trip has me wanting to return already. I feel like I haven't stopped gushing about the city since we got back to London. It was just one of those magical weekends that reminds us why we have chosen a life of travel and we are feeling so refreshed—alive. The three-day weekend in late April had us boarding a plane from London to Prague more excited than ever to finally check out the well known historic city.

Hungary, April 2017: Budapest & Szentendre Video Moments

When we first started traveling, I figured there would be places we like more than others. While that has become the case, I still find it hard to rank our trips in order or to say I have an absolute favorite. The truth is that we learn different things from each country we visit and we come away with unique memories that can't be compared to the last.

Portugal, March 2017: Lisbon Video Moments

On Monday I shared all about my recent girls trip to Lisbon back in March with my friend Steph (here). I managed to snag just a little bit of video during our three-day adventure around. I can't say enough how perfect of a getaway this was for this time of year. We spent our time wandering around the old city, taking in all the sights, soaking up the sun, and trying some authentic Portuguese dishes. It was so much fun escaping the gloomy London winter for an early taste of spring and summer.

Latvia, March 2017: Riga & Cesis Video Moments

This week I've been walking you through our recent three day weekend away to Riga & Cesis in Latvia. We spent our time wandering through Riga's old town admiring the beautifully historic buildings as well as taking a day to venture out to Cesis where a breath-taking castle sits amongst a quiet town. While we wish we had more time to explore further, getting to experience both a city and a smaller town gave us a good feel for the country.

France, December 2016: Christmas Markets in Alsace (& Basel, Switzerland) Video Moments

This week we've invited you in to explore the Alsace Christmas markets with us to help get into the holiday spirit. After all, we are just about one week away from Christmas! So, for the first weekend of December, we found ourselves taking a three day weekend to head down to the Alsace region of France. It was the perfect place to explore a handful of the beautiful European Christmas markets and spend some quality time with family who were visiting from the States. The cobblestone streets were beyond crowded with people who had the same idea as us but as I looked around, I was completely in awe of the decorations, lights, and festive spirit carried so cheerfully through the towns. Add in the half-timbered home as the backdrop and it was nothing short of magical. The charm of these towns left us wanting to return one year in the spring to see them covered in flowers. I can only imagine it would be a sight to see! For now, we will keep Alsace in our minds as a wonderful spot to celebrate the holidays.

France, November 2016: Paris Video Moments

On Monday, we recapped our November Paris trip for you and now it's time to dive right into the video moments. During our first trip to Paris—over a year ago—we spent a lot of time hitting the must see spots. The one thing we missed was actually climbing up the Eiffel Tower. This time around we were sure to do just that but the majority of our time was spent wandering around south of the river. Basing ourselves in Saint German was the perfect place to see a different side of Paris and find our way to the Latin Quarter as well. It may have rained all weekend but Paris really sunk into our bones this time around. We are certain that we will be taking advantage of the train ride from London much more often. How could we not!?

Portugal, October 2016: Lisbon Video Moments

Our recent trip to Lisbon (recap here) was one that really surprised us. We were in the midst of trying to figure out a move when the opportunity came up but there was no way we could pass on it. Travel is what we live for! Neither of us had ever been to Portugal and our plan was to put it on hold until we moved back to the States. The country is relatively easy to get to from the east coast so it made sense for us to originally do that. But, we pushed that all aside and jumped on board without hesitation!

Austria & Germany, September 2016: The Alps Video Moments

Our latest travel recap has taken you through our Austrian and German Alps trip (you can find all three parts of that here incase you missed it and are having regrets). When we traveled to Salzburg back in January to kick off the 2016 new year, we truly fell in love with the small city and wanted to see more of the area. As soon as we were home, we started planning to return in the summer! The Alps reminded us of our New England home. We used to really enjoy weekend getaways to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. I think it's safe to say the Alps are little bit more crazy and intense but to be back in the fresh mountain air gave us a sense of peace.

Slovakia, August 2016: Bratislava Video Moments

When we were looking were to go for a three day weekend in August, we started by looking at flights to see where we could get to and have the three days be enough. Bratislava was a clear options and we decided to go for it without really having any expectations or ideas of what the three days were going to look like for us. We just knew it had history to it and that the size was doable in the amount of time we had to explore. The city quickly won us over as we entered it's quaint old town. The cobblestone narrow streets and open squares are exactly what you picture when you think about a small European city. We enjoyed our time hiking up to the castle right nearby as well as Devin Castle just a short bus ride away. And, on our final day, we hopped on a bike tour to learn more about the city we had just spent the last couple days enjoying. We recapped more of our time in Bratislava here on the blog if you would like to dig in further to see the details of what we did. It's safe to say that Bratislava really surprised us and made us realize just how much of Europe we have yet to see!

Italy, July 2016: The Amalfi Coast Video Moments

Our big summer trip this year was to Italy's Amalfi Coast which we have been recapping on the blog over this past week here, here, and...here! Basing ourselves for the week in the town of Amalfi, we definitely took full advantage of all the transportation options so we could soak in all that the coast had to offer. We walked under the tunnel to Atrani, took the ferry to Capri, road small shuttle boats from beaches to towns like Positano, hiked the Path of the Gods, and of course, we enjoyed the views from the crazy buses when we headed to Sorrento, Ravello, and Cetara. It was a great location to have a balance of everything from wandering through the beautiful Italian towns to hiking up in the mountains and diving deep into the sea. There's not much more you could ask of out of a summer vacation!

Germany, June 2016: Berlin Video Moments

While we weren't able to spend every day exploring Berlin, we got a solid 48 hours to take in as much as we could. For our first free evening we headed to Tiergarten to walk around, grab a bite to eat, and (unexpectedly) rent a row boat while the sun was setting. It got us in the perfect mood to wake up the next day (which also happened to be my birthday!) excited to learn about the deep history of the city. After spending most of our day on a walking tour learning so much, we took it all in as a starting point to decide which places and parts of the city we wanted to return to and see more during the rest of our stay. While it feels like we barely covered any of the city, we still feel like we go to really experience it. To learn more about what we did, hop over to this post.

Croatia & Montenegro, June 2016: Montenegro Video Moments

We've been sharing all the ins and out of our Croatia & Montenegro road trip here on the blog but we have just one more piece to show you! Part two (catch part one here) of our video moments covers our time spent in Montenegro during our nine day journey. We based ourselves in the Bay of Kotor where we swam among the mountains, took a dip in the sea, wandered through the small towns, hiked up fortresses, and even did some paragliding. It was a trip we will never forget and working on these videos always leaves our hearts aching to return to back to our beloved travel spots! Each place we go to is so unique and its hard not to fall in love when you really immerse yourself in the culture. Seeing and experiencing new things has changed us so much. It has opened our eyes to the world, it has opened our hearts to love more, and it puts everything—especially problems—into perspective. We hope that by creating these posts and videos, you can feel like you're traveling alongside us and help inspire everyone to go out to see the world, change our perspectives of the world (in a much needed time), and to truly live this crazy life we're given.
