Fez, Morocco: Video Moments

The final part of our Morocco trip brought us to Fez. After a long day of driving (roughly 8 hours) from the Sahara Desert, we finally made it and were greeted by the friendly Dar Seffarine. The last few days exploring Morocco were full of narrow lanes, getting lost, wandering the souks, and enjoying the beauty of Fez's medina. It was a wonderful ending to our time and made it all the more difficult to say goodbye to Morocco. Until next time!

Marrakech To The Sahara, Morocco: Video Moments

For the second part of our trip to Morocco, we knew we wanted to head to the Sahara Desert for a night under the stars. Rather than going on a tour, we decided to rent a car to take it slowly on our own. With a few stops and overnight stays at Ait Benhaddou and Dades Gorge, we finally made it to the endless dunes. A night watching the sunset, listening to music by the fire, and looking up at the stars was the perfect way to spend some time in Morocco before heading on to Fez!

Marrakech, Morocco: Video Moments

For our first long trip of the year, we decided it was time to get off the continent. Over the past years, Europe has become our comfort zone. It felt important to step out of that and begin venturing beyond. Having had Morocco on the list for awhile, it felt like the perfect place to start. Flying from London into Marrakech, we kicked off our trip. Marrakech was a beautiful and chaotic city that we fell in love with deeply. We knew we made the right choice once we settled in and began to understand the rhythm. From its busy streets to the serene courtyards, Marrakech offered plenty to see and do.

Alpbach, Austria: Video Moments

This year we decided to finally learn to ski. After researching the best spots in Europe to go to learn, we landed upon the quaint Alpine town of Alpbach. Already in love with Austria from previous trips, it instantly felt like the perfect fit. Our first weekend in January, we took lessons and enjoyed finding our footing on skis. Then in March, we went off on our own. While we didn't make it onto the trails higher up into the mountains this year, we know that when we return around Christmas time we will finally be ready. It isn't easy to push yourself to learn new things as you get older but we are so glad we learned to ski and can say we now have a new hobby!

Portugal's Algarve: Video Moments

As the weather warms up here for spring in London, we were inspired to finally share more about our trip to Portugal's Algarve last September. It was a vacation filled with beach visits, strolls down cobblestone lanes, and good food. While we mentioned it didn't make the top of our list of places we have been, the Algarve is the spot to go to for some sun and relaxation. We enjoyed ending our 2017 travel season doing just that! If we ever make it back, Lagos or Salema will be calling our names.

Ireland's Dingle Peninsula: Video Moments

Our three day weekend in Ireland was full of beautiful landscapes. The rocky coast, beaches, and rolling green hills took our breath away. Exploring the Dingle Peninsula was the perfect way to see the country for the first time and inspired us to want to return for more. We enjoy these mini weekends away seeing somewhere new, driving around, immersing ourselves in the natural surroundings, and relaxing. It helps refresh us and brings balance to our lives. A highlight of our weekend in Ireland was showing up at Eask Tower at the end of a day of wandering around. The skies had finally cleared for a bit so we hiked up and looked down on the land around us in awe. That moment sums up how we felt about Ireland for us.

Hvar, Croatia: Video Moments

I have to admit that it has been tough to recap our trip to Bosnia and Croatia while in the middle of winter. These photos, videos, and stories have me aching to return—to go swimming again and feel the warm sun on our skin. I'm just going to have to close my eyes and pretend until July when we make our way back to Croatia—we just can't get enough! This past trip was the perfect mix. Starting in Bosnia where we learned further about their deep history, visited beautiful mosques and quaint villages then ending in Croatia by sea to swim and wander was perfect. It is a trip that we will never forget!

Split & Trogir, Croatia: Video Moments

Hands down, Croatia is one of our favorite places to travel to. It has a beautiful mix of culture and adventure! For our third visit, we decided to spend our time in Split and Hvar (which we will get to soon!). After our time in Bosnia, we took a bus from Mostar to Split to kick off the second half of our trip. While in Split, we enjoyed wandering around the old city, eating delicious food, taking some time to relax at the beach, and going off on a day trip to Trogir. Our time there got us back to remembering why we keep coming back. The people are friendly, the food is delicious, the history and the old architecture surrounds you, and you can't beat being by the sea. It was a wonderful first few days back in Croatia. Next up, we jump on the ferry to finish our two week adventure on the island of Hvar!

Bosnia: Video Moments

Bosnia is one of the most unique places we have visited so far in our travels. We pushed ourselves to go here to learn more about the history and see a culture that is so different from our own. Stepping foot in the different mosques throughout our stay and listening to our tour guide in Sarajevo gave us a better understanding of life. It is easy to sink into the everyday norms and assume that everyone else's lives are similar—to forget the struggles as they seem so far away, almost unreal. Hearing the stories of the Bosnian people—what they have been through—is eye-opening, especially since it was so current. Places like Bosnia are important to travel to. By visiting, you can see a country that was—not to long ago—torn apart by war, come back together. While it is still not perfect (as we have written about in our other posts from our time there), it is an inspiring example of regaining strength.

Bergen & Fjord Country, Norway: Video Moments

Recapping our Norway trip has made me miss the peacefulness of the country. While we only had four days to soak it in (and we got soaked...), it made a lasting impact on us. Our souls always feel refreshed when we are removed from the hustle and bustle of city life and pushed into nature. Bergen offered us some charming streets to wander and get our first taste of Norwegian culture and adventuring into fjord country gave us that bit of nature I'm going on about here. It was the highlight of the trip—being able to take a boat right around such beautiful scenery and then again get to see even more up close with a kayaking trip. The weather wasn't the best we could have asked for (even the locals were complaining) but we made the most of our time and hope to return back sometime soon (with some sun!).

Murano & Burano, Italy: Video Moments

Last up on our Venice trip is our Murano and Burano Video Moments. These two islands were an absolute highlight of our trip. Their colorful homes, small canals, unique bridges, and artistry truly pulls you in. Murano and Burano are an easy trip from Venice making it no brainer to visit (a mistake we made on our first trip to Italy in 2013). We loved getting lost wandering around and discovering new nooks and crannies. I'm a bit at a loss of words to how to describe how beautiful these little islands were so you will just have to take my word for it and watch the video yourself!

Venice, Italy (feat. The 57th Biennale di Venezia): Video Moments

Back in June we took a four-day weekend to head back to Venice, Italy. On our first trip to Venice in 2013, we were unsure of the city and a bit run down from our whirlwind of a trip. Since then, we always knew we needed to return to give it a second chance and this summer we finally went for it. I think it's safe to say we full in love quickly and didn't want to leave this time around. From wandering along the side canals to checking out the Peggy Guggenheim Collectio and enjoying the 57th Biennale di Venezi, we enjoyed ourselves immensely. We can't stop scheming up ways to return to the wonderfully unique city. I can only hope a visit happens again soon!
