2018 Travel Destinations
A new year is here which means we have been busy planning where we would like to go and what we would like to see! We are excited to continue to travel and push some new limits this year. Our aim is to get outside of our comfort zone a little as well as mix it up a bit. We'll learn to ski, we're heading to Africa for the first time, and we are making sure to check off some more of our UK bucket list. When we look back on last year's travels along with all the trips from 2016 and 2015, we are in awe of all that we have been lucky enough to see. We do not take this life for granted. All our hard work, determination, and heart brought us here. Moving abroad to fulfill this dream of ours has been nothing short of amazing. We've accomplished what we have set out to do and are continuing to enjoy it longer than we ever thought possible. So here's a look at to what's to come...
January & March
We will be kicking off 2018 with a four day ski holiday in the Tyrolean town of Alpbach. After years (and years) of wishing we knew how to ski, we are finally making moves to learn how. The long weekend will consist of ski lessons, relaxing, massages, and just enjoying the snow covered alps.
*Update: We loved this weekend so much, we've added a return trip for March before the ski season ends! We can't wait to get back out there and enjoy our new hobby.
For our first trip to Africa, we will be making it a long one—10 days! 3 nights in Marrakesh, 3-day road trip into the Sahara ending with a night under the stars in Erg Chebbi, and 3 nights in Fez. Souks, kasbahs, tangine, tanneries, and serene desert!
Though we know 2-days in the Cotswolds already wont be enough to see it all, we decided to squeeze a weekend getaway in to finally see some of its magic. It will be a lovely little road trip to the English countryside, staying in Bourton-on-the-Water.
We loved Lisbon, we saw what the Algarve had to offer, and now it's time to sample Portugal's north in this gritty yet charming city. For four days, we will see what nooks and crannies we can find!
Our adventures around the UK continue with a road trip to some of the country's most stunning landscapes. Staying in Betws-y-Coed, we will enjoy a three-day escape to nature and relax in its beauty.
After our first visit to the Baltics last year to Riga, we return again, this time to Estonia's fairytale capital. We can't wait to wander the streets and take in it's charm. It seems to be absolutely picturesque!
New Orleans, Louisiana
Britt's best friend's wedding brings us to New Orleans in the summer, so we'll stick around for a bit to explore one of America's most unique cities. It has been rare for us to go anywhere in the US other than New England when we are visiting our families. It will be a nice and welcomed change up. We are looking forward to enjoying the energy and culture of New Orleans!
Our love affair with the Alps continues with a trip to Italy's mountainous north. We'll start in the craggy peaks of the Dolomites and then will make our way west to Lake Como. Going to Italy always feels right!
Dubrovnik & Korčula, Croatia
Our fourth visit to Croatia in as many years is unique for two reasons: for the first time we're returning somewhere in the country (Dubrovnik) and, more importantly, we'll be sharing it all with Britt's parents and sister! We can not wait for this sunshine filled nine-day getaway!
Stockholm & Archipelago, Sweden
It's said that no other European capital has air as fresh, water as clean, and greenery as lush as Stockholm. In order to take full advantage, we'll split our time between the city and out on one of the islands on the archipelago. It will be the perfect mix of city and nature!
There's a couple more trips in the talks to finish out 2018 but we aren't quite ready to share the details yet. Stay tuned! We will be sure to update this post when they're ready to make their debut.
